5. FERRANDO HOME, BANDEL

History of Ferrando Home, Bandel

which has come true for the children from very poor broken families and the street children who need basic necessities and education. The Province purchased a plot of land and a building attached to Ferrando Convent, Bandel and the community was established on 24th April 2007. The new community was named “Ferrando Home.” Today we feel proud to have a community for the betterment and welfare of the children who are deprived of love and care to build up their future in the society. Sr. Alma Tirkey pioneered the house with three children namely, Regina Xalxo, Mary George Marandi and Erika Marandi. Later Sr. Apolina Barla and Sr.Esther Zonusangi joined the community as the number of children increased. The Ferrando Home was blessed by Fr.Thomas Pulickal SDB, the then prior of the Bandel Shrine on 4th August 2007. Since then a separate kitchen and the other requirements of the house is met independently by the sisters. It was so good that Sr.Merlyn Jacob the superior and the community members of the Ferrando Convent took well care of them at the initial days of their stay. The home is set to accommodate 35 children.
